Exciting news, we’re delighted to announce that we’re rebuilding the British Newspaper Archive on a modern, future-ready foundation, one that will grow with you and open the door to powerful new capabilities. All the popular features and capabilities will still be here, with a range of thoughtful improvements and enhancements designed to make your experience even better.

We’re planning to move across to the new site in Summer 2026. As we get closer, we’ll share exact dates. You won’t need to do anything we’ll take care of the transition for you.

Rebuilding the platform unlocks the next generation of BNA capabilities, including new technology enabled features and transformative approaches to newspaper searching. These improvements will open entirely new ways to explore, interact with, and discover historical newspaper content.
