Can newspapers, pages or articles be corrected or removed?

We aim to preserve history as faithfully as possible, digitising the pages in The Archive exactly as they were originally published. Therefore, known inaccuracies cannot be corrected.

Newspapers, pages or articles are removed from the site only in specific, carefully assessed situations.

They may be removed when:

• A copyright holder informs us that their material is being used without permission
• A page includes material that is defamatory, inappropriate or illegal

Because a lot of the material in The Archive is in the public domain and has historical value, we cannot remove pages unless they meet one of the criteria above.
